Because we look at the optic nerve, we can tell if certain types of brain tumors or brain aneurysms are present. Because we look at the blood vessels, we can see things that affect the vasculature; such as high blood pressure, diabetes even anemia. We look at the retinal tissue to make sure there are no signs of tears or tumors growing in that tissue. We can even see signs of spreading cancer from other areas of the body. Probably, if there is any part of the body to be inspected, it’s the eyes that will give us the greatest amount of information about the general health of your overall body.
