For people who have bad vision and thick lenses, there are new lens materials which reduce this thickness, as well as peripheral vision distortion. These materials come under the category of “polycarbonate”, are unbreakable and extremely lightweight. They do have a tendency to scratch more easily, so come with an anti-scratch coating. Quality ant-reflective coatings are also advised to reduce reflection from the lens edges, which improves the cosmetic appearance of the glasses.
